In short

In Ireland, all domestic gas work must be done by a Registered Gas Installer (RGI) and installations are certified with a Declaration of Conformance. Christy is an RGI for domestic and non-domestic gas. He services and replaces gas boilers, fits hobs, cookers and fires, runs new pipework and does landlord gas safety checks across Cork.

The Declaration of Conformance

A Declaration of Conformance is the certificate an RGI issues to confirm gas work was done to the standard. You should get one every time gas is installed or altered in your home. Keep it — it matters when you sell, when you let, and when an insurer asks.

Check your installer's RGI ID card

Every RGI carries a photo ID card from the RGI scheme, renewed each year. Ask to see it. It should show the current year, a photo and a registration number that you can check with the scheme. Christy is always happy to show you his.

If you smell gas

  • Turn off the gas at the meter, if it is safe to do so.
  • Open doors and windows.
  • Do not use electrical switches, naked flames or your phone inside the house.
  • Leave the house and ring the Gas Networks Ireland 24-hour emergency line from outside on 1800 20 50 50.
  • Once the supply is made safe, call us to find and fix the cause.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can a plumber who is not an RGI fit my gas hob?

No. All domestic gas work, including connecting a hob or cooker, has to be done by a Registered Gas Installer.

Do you do commercial gas work?

Yes. Christy is registered for non-domestic gas work. Under the CRU's non-domestic gas works regulation, which applies from 1 September 2026, regulated gas work in non-domestic buildings such as offices, shops and restaurants also has to be done by an RGI registered for that work. See Commercial.

Book a service or request a quote.

Book a service or ask for a price online, and attach a photo of the boiler, the leak or the job. Christy replies with a fixed price or a time to call, and nothing starts until you have agreed it.
